Winter had a big day yesterday. Lots of snow – almost 10 inches of nice fluffy easy to shovel snow. Chilly at -11C . A bit more snow expected with temperatures seesawing to above zero and back down.
A large hawk sat in the Sycamore tree for two days before the snow. A lot of bird shit for one animal. Delighted to host an apex predator!
First snow of the season and the first significant accumulation (10cm) this year. The earliest in almost 60 years. Crazy. The leaves still on the trees, tomatoes still green. Even dahlias still out – and now dead.

Last weekend Toronto got as much snow as all of last year.

We were in Cape Breton so most of the front was cleared by our wonderful neighbours.

And it’s been very cold so the sycamore’s split has reappeared.

One of the biggest snow falls this year.

First daffodil shoots have emerged. Tree peony has some gorgeous buds. Hellebores have a couple of buds which I should probably put some protection around. But yeah! Another garden season and my first one as a Master Gardener

About 12:30 and sure looks like the angle of the sun has moved. Overall it’s been more of a grey Maritime winter. Today is the first sun in weeks it seems. No real snow to speak of so far, and little rain overall. Happy Groundhog Day. Fake spring starts in six weeks!
Got a good 2 inches (5cm) of snow last night.

A good 3 to 4 cm of lake effect snow. Had to get out the shovel. A bit giddy to see the white stuff

So pretty today. Minus 1 and a good five cm of snow. Was 15 degrees on Thursday. Had a few days of pulling out boxwoods. The leaf miner problem persists.
