A week of freakishly warm weather, breaking some daytime records in the high 20s, has everything bursting. Along with a surprise visit from a rabbit, again!
Apple blossoms are starting to show on about a third of the tree. Moving two of them into more sun to see if they come alive with fruit.
Plants watered, peas picked and pulled some garlic. Leaving the rest of the hard neck in the ground for another week as there is no sign of the skins splitting. The soft neck hasn’t done as much. Need to get this year’s garlic ordered.
Ms. Robin is in her nest this morning. The slightest move and her head pops out. I’ve decided that once I see signs of her chicks I will empty the composter and create a serious worm buffet.
Snow peas have gone from blooms to pickable in two days. So gorg.
July has kicked off hot and dry. Could be a week of feels-like mid to high 30s and not a hint of rain in the forecast.
Totally on the down low… a robin has nested in our dogwood right off the balcony. I haven’t got a great picture as she and her nest are well hidden. And trying to be a bit invisible in her immediate vicinity. Don’t want to scare her off. That said, she must have had some sense of what she was getting into during her three days of nest building. She’s been around enough the last 48 hours that she must be roosting. Hope to get a peak at some real Robin’s egg blue!
