Strawberries and potatoes

And peas are planted. Beautiful weekend.  Sprayed BTK on the apple trees as I saw the first signs of caterpillars. Had to get it at East End. Tried Home Depot but only one person working. But I did get my potatoes there.

16 all together. Feels a bit early, but good to try. Started to dig the entire bed in front of the blueberries. Nope, I am a full convert to lasagna planting. With the layer of straw I put down for winter, it would take a machine to chew it up and dig it in.  Should be fun.  Home Depot $9, Easr End $27, Canopy $38 – front planters.

Great weekend in the garden. Pruned, planted, prodded and probed around.

Planted arugula, spinach and radishes in the salad bar.  Pruned the haskaps, gave them a well deserved clean up.  Moved and divided the peony at the back. Got the door screens out of the shed. Sowed grass seed and white closer in the lawn. Spread some red clover in the garden path.

And best of all commissioned Kevin to build a retaining wall on 84 Badgerow lot behind #14.  A serious investment as in the future it’ll be the back knee or dwarf wall, for the greenhouse.  Thrilled. It will be gorgeous. And he convinced me to move the crab apple and get the “path de Versailles” in place this year. Did I say thrilled?

A Desert spring

Refreshed the front planters for spring.

First weekend in the garden. Fabulous weather. Marylou is here and lemon pies are going in the oven. A general tidy today. Winter pruning appears to have been successful. Sad to say the figs dropped their fruit. Overwatering before we went to Arizona perhaps. Got the seed tray ready to go. Have to put the seeds in tomorrow.  Divided the large yucca to make room for the pyramidal boxwood and columnar apple. Speaking of Arizona. The botanical garden was amazing this year.
